Christian Lolo Moreno is an active percussionist and drum-set artist, specializing in orchestral, commercial and theatrical music. As a freelance performer, he has played with the Chicago Philharmonic, Elgin Symphony, Northwest Indiana Symphony, Marriott Theatre, Music Theatre Works, Porchlight Theatre, Metropolis, Peacherine Ragtime Society, Braeburn Brass Quintet, Kenosha Symphony, Chicago Composers Orchestra and Second City, to name a few. In 2022, he was invited to hold the keyboard III chair on the national broadway tour of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, traveling to over 65 cities across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

 

From 2017-2019, Christian gigged extensively across the U.S as the touring drummer for Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters and A Carpenters Christmas. He has completed seasonal contracts for renowned summer-stock theatres, including the Timberlake Playhouse and Rocky Mountain Repertory; collaborated on numerous productions with the music departments of Northwestern University, Columbia College and Roosevelt University, and has gigged with some of the top jobbing bands in the midwest, including The Bluewater Kings. He plays regularly for a number of local independent artists, rock bands, worships groups & pickup orchestras.

 

As an educator, Mr. Moreno is a regular guest instructor at the People's Music School and maintains his own private lesson studio. He has previously held teaching positions with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, The Ravinia Festival (Sistema Ravinia), Schaumburg High School and Cook County Jail's MHTC program, among many others. Additionally, he has presented percussion demonstrations for various solo & ensemble festivals across Chicagoland. 

 

Christian is a graduate of the DePaul University School of Music, where he studied with Ian Ding, former Assistant Principal Percussionist of the Detroit Symphony, as well as top-call freelancers, Michael Kozakis (Chicago Symphony, Joffrey Ballet, Lyric Opera) and Bob Rummage (Mark Colby, Howard Levy, Benny Golson). During his studies, he also completed an internship and worked concert logistics for the grammy award-winning chamber ensemble, Third Coast Percussion. 

 

He is proud to endorse Sabian Cymbals and is a member of the American Federation of Musicians, local 10-208.
